Filmmakers Not Making Films: Paul Thomas Anderson – Fiona Apple’s Hot Knife

I’ve highlighted filmmakers enough recently who are making all sorts except their typical—the feature film—so this may become a somewhat regular posting if the trend holds true. Now we have something new from Paul Thomas Anderson (though he supposedly shot this prior to shooting The Master and has been working on it ever since) in support of the Fiona Apple track Hot Knife. This was one of my favorite tracks from the latest album and the video is a stunning accompaniment. The Master exhibited much of the same characteristics of his previous outing There Will Be Blood and this video is a welcome deviation from the approach, especially with the projects on Anderson’s horizon.  So, for anyone already craving more from Mr. Anderson, and/or for fans of Apple, here you go.
