Chicago Book Expo: Day One

Our first day at the Chicago Book Expo was a huge success. People lined up by the thousands and were screaming our name as if we were gods or professional athletes.

There is a simple irony to the idea of independent booksellers hawking their artisanal wares in the hollow corpse of a former corporate behemoth. A sign of the times? A positive regression? Either way, we had a blast – and if you’re just coming to our website NOW, as a result of the conversations we had at the fair – we welcome you to the Fold.

Tomorrow, from noon to 6 p.m., we’re doing it all over again. Look straight ahead when you walk through the doors at 4720 N Broadway. We’re splitting a table with the lovely Rose Metal Press, and we will also be carting around a live goat.
