This is my website! Congratulations! You’ve found it! It’s amazing! Please don’t ever leave!
Here’s the requisite list of me showing off about how great a poet I am, even though I’m filled with insecurity and self-doubt. (Yes, I know insecurity and self-doubt ARE sort of the same thing. They are, right? Shoot, maybe they’re not? MY GOD, WHAT HAVE I DONE?!?!) So here’s that list. Contests I’ve won: Kind of a Hurricane Press and Prism Review. Contests I came achingly close to winning: Gemini Magazine and Red Hen Press. Contests I came relatively close to winning: Iowa Review, Green Mountains Review, Soundings East, The Southeast Review, and Georgetown Review. Contests I kind of came close to winning but not really: Wenlock Poetry International Competition, Southword Journal, Aesthetica, Live Canon, Naugatuck River Review, Peregrine, River Styx, Oberon, and New Millennium Writings.
I have a chapbook coming out from Encircle Publications in September 2017: It's called "Secret Traits of Everyday Things", and it's totally mediocre and not worth buying. No need to buy it. That would be a huge mistake to, you know, buy it and thus support poetry and all the poets like me. So buy it please.
My wife is objectively fantastic. She’s the popular mommy-blogger known as "The Ugly Volvo", author of the amazing book about having a baby called “Welcome to the Club.” (No, the baby is not called “Welcome to the Club.”) Please buy it. (Not the baby. The book.) She and I combined our genes to make TWO really cute boys, one born in 2013, the other in the Fall of 2016. (So, yes, something good DID happen in 2016.)
That’s all I got. Thanks for reading. And sorry I post so infrequently.
P.S.: If you’re the editor of a literary review, please solicit my poetry. I won’t be offended.
